Brilliant Batik workshop on Paper and Fabric

Last weekend I spent Saturday working with a group of wonderful ladies sharing some techniques used to Batik  fabric and paper. It was an inspiring day, the only complaint was that the art room was way too hot.  It was quite mild outside and we were using hot wax with the heating on, of course there was little hope for a breeze even with the doors propped open.
An entire day is never enough time for workshops like this especially when there is a strong feeling of excitement and enthusiasm in the room. With just a 30 minute lunch break we were still rushing to finish samples towards the end of the session. Fortunately I did take my camera But I was only able to take photos of some of the work done. Throughout the day I kept on saying out loud to remind myself (lol) that I must take photos, but with so much to do in so little time when I finally took the camera out  their work had been put away. These kind ladies stopped clearing up to unpack their best pieces so that I could get a few pictures. At this point I had to climb onto a tall stool and then with one leg perched on the table and the other on the stool,  I took these photos which, do not really show the delicate quality of line and the fabulous colours they achieved  but they will give an idea.

Those taking part  all  did extremely well having never done Batik before and were a pleasure to meet and chat with.
